This blog post comes as a response to an email I got. The writer of this email said he was highly disgusted that so many unprofessional truckers where disgracing the trucking industry. The writer expressed his feelings that many of these drivers were posted very immature videos and the trucking industry did not need this. I will not come to a cut throat battle over these truckers as if you want to battle issues like this I don’t have time, But I will say that I have been watching most of their videos for over a year. I have seen some very good videos put out by some of the truckers that I would say it looked good for the image of truckers. I think these truckers are like most people on YouTube and make videos because they enjoy it and it’s a way for them to keep in touch with other drivers in the industry. If you want to bitch and moan that a handful of truckers are destroying the images of truckers I for one don’t care to hear it. For the image of truckers hasn’t changed overnight, it changed when drivers became lazy and careless. The driver who throws his bodily waste on the public grounds for another man to walk through is a major cause of why people look at drivers today like they are scum. And how about the driver that is just too lazy to wash his tail? If you want to moan to me about issues affecting the image of a trucker be prepared to hear my reply. After my health failed back in July and I had to climb out of my truck I’ve often thought I would make a website people could post pictures of drivers disgracing the trucking industry with their nasty ungodly habits. But on the last note to this blog I will say the trucking industry needs a New Image and if it’s done by talking about truckers posting videos on the web your wrong. I would suggest to all who feel this way to get on your knees and put your nose to parking lot and sniff the parking lot. BUT Watch out as someone may throw their bodily fluids on you.

I have heard it said many times over the years “Why was that driver robbed”? And the question that quickly surfaced in my mind was “Why Not”. Many drivers are robbed at gun point every year some even lose their life to such a horrible crime. But if one would stop and look at the picture for just a moment they would also see the Big Picture of why truckers are robbed so often. First off when someone knows the person they are robbing has a job there is no chance they are robbing a unemployed person. Everyone in America knows the percentage of drivers make good money and stay away from home for long periods of time. When a driver is on the road he must have a way to support himself on the road (But criminals are stupid they haven’t caught on most everyone carries Debit Cards”. When a driver is robbed he must spend time he probably doesn’t have waiting on the cops and theirs hours of questions. Not to mention having to return to the area for court if the criminal is caught. There is a lot more reasons which make the Trucker a perfect target. Life on the road can hard and more truckers can tell you times they came close to being robbed or was robbed then them that weren’t. All and all it’s sad a Man/Woman sacrifices so much and hast to worry about the scum of the world while try to make a living. Peterbilt’s parent company, Paccar, says it will permanently close its truck plant in Madison, TN, where the workers are UAW members, and move the work to its nonunion plant in Denton, TX. The Madison plant stopped making trucks in July 2008 when union contract talks broke down.

The Nashville Business Journal quotes a Peterbilt official as saying the plant’s permanent closure is due to falling demand for new trucks and not because of labor problems.

However, a UAW official says the union believes the company is moving the work to Denton, which is a nonunion plant.

The Tennessee plant laid off its remaining 313 workers last summer. It employed more than 1,000 workers three years ago.

The news on Monday was riddled with the echoes of a touchy subject in trucking, the use of onboard communication devices. Congress is pushing a big legislation that would federally ban texting while driving. Congress hasn’t said as of yet but the ATA is fairly sure this would ban units like Qualcomm. I for one think this is a good idea. I have seen numerous drivers over my years drive very unsafely just say get that urgent message on their QualComm. But units such as QualComm are not the big issue of today in the trucking world I don’t think. The drivers that scare me senseless are those drivers who have their laptop mounted up front in their cab and use to chat with friends and family on messengers such as AIM and Yahoo. I have seen for myself over 5 drivers I can recall I passed that had their Laptop on their steering wheel typing away. Distractions in the cab have always been there and have caused a good number of drivers to end up in major wrecks or even kill themselves. Over the years I’ve seen guys/girls have 2-3 dogs on their lap. I for one have had a Laptop and a Sprint Air Card for years and I find it vital to my life on the road but I don’t use it while sailing down the highway. But over all according to the New York Times only 3.1% of trucking accidents are from onboard computers, not a huge number but the government has always looked at fixing the lower percentage before the bigger percentage.

76 Year Old Donald Leroy Creed of Willard, Mo told a Miami, Ok judge today he wasn’t guilty of killing 10 people in a accident that involved his Associated Wholesale Grocers truck on June 26th. Mr. Creed said he had no idea what happened to cause a group of cars that were stopped in a backup due to another accident to end up under his truck. I for one was relieved to see the area residents for the most part supporting the trucker. Some say the support comes from him being an older person. As of this far the only evidence being released is that he ended a 22 Minute cell phone call 8 minutes before the impact. Highway Patrol investigators said his cruise was set on 71 at the time of impact, which the turnpike speed limit is 75. I will start by saying this is very sad that so many people lost their lives. I wasn’t there when the accident took place but I have driven a truck for over 10 years and have seen times when I could have been in this same spot. Back in May I was east bound on I-70 coming thru Columbia Mo when a young lady switched lanes only leaving less than 2 car links between me and her and slamming her brakes on to make a exit ramp, I was able to slam on my breaks fully loaded and turn right off the shoulder to avoid missing her. I am without doubt I would have killed her had I not of done so. I have seen stuff like this happen time after time in my years. And if this is the kind of thing that happened to Mr. Creed it isn’t right. I’ve personally known a few guys over the years that did unfortunately take a life while driving a truck and it breaks my heart to see the hell and torment these guys go through always wondering what they could of done different. I for one will pray for Mr. Creed because no matter what Judge in Miami, Ok does to him he will always have that heart ache inside.

I usually don’t blog about the stuff you would see on your local 6 o’clock news channel, but this pisses me off. After reading the story today about Irene Vilar who has a Abortion Addict, I set back and said OMG. According to what I read Mrs. Vilar’s book will soon hit the shelves of your local book store called “Impossible Motherhood”. In this book undoubted she blames being born Puerto Rico and her dead grandmother who died when she was 8 for sick addiction to killing babies as this is what did in her interview with ABC. Mrs. Vilar has had 15 abortions in 16 years most of which she while she was married. Reading the article that ABC News put out I would haft say she seems like a smart person as she was enrolled in Syracuse University when she was only 15 years old. Oh did I mention she has 2 children she raises daily! Now I am not going to argue whether or not abortion is right or wrong but I will Stand up and say when abused to this degree there is no way to justify 15 abortions when you are aborting your husband’s children or having no medical illness which abortion would be justified in. What a sick world we live in when the government will leave such a program as the right to abortions open to where it can be used to such degree.
